MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM AND ENERGY COMMUNITY
The Municipal Auditorium of Ferla is an emblem of urban transformation and rebirth.
The Municipal Auditorium of Ferla is an emblem of urban transformation and rebirth.
Formerly the Church of San Rocco within the Benedictine monastic complex, the structure has undergone an extraordinary metamorphosis: from a spiritual hub and place of prayer to a cinema hall, and finally to its current restoration that highlights its raw stone and Baroque soul.
Today, the complex also houses the Town Hall (Casa Comunale), the administrative heart of the village.
In 2021, “CommonLight: let’s bring our energies together” was born—Sicily’s first Renewable Energy Community (REC).
The heart of the ecological transition beats right on the roof of the Town Hall where, thanks to a 20 kW photovoltaic system, clean energy is produced, shared, and consumed by citizens and businesses.
The results of this cutting-edge model are tangible:
- Environment: Over 25 tons of CO2 saved in just two years.
- Economy: Economic incentives distributed to members to reduce energy costs.
- Social: A dedicated fund fights energy poverty by financing systems for vulnerable families.
